The ‘Aber Chaise‘ Journey: From First Conversation to Heirloom Centrepiece
What is it like to create your very own piece of Needle Rock Originals furniture?
When you choose an ‘Aber Chaise’, you’re not just buying a piece of furniture – you’re embarking on a journey. One that puts your comfort, style, and legacy at the heart of every decision, spring and stitch. Here’s exactly what to expect as we bring your bespoke chaise longue to life.
Step 1: Choose Your Size
We offer four standard sizes to suit your space and your lifestyle:
- Standard – A 5-foot piece of artwork for your home. The classic length for stretching out, relaxing, or lounging with a good book.
- Short – 4-foot: compact comfort. Perfect for smaller rooms or stylish entryways.
- Long – For an extra touch of luxury, we offer a 6-foot option ideal for lounging
- Companion Chaise – Yes, even your four-legged friend can have a 3-foot one! A perfectly scaled-down version to match your Chaise Longue, made with the same attention to detail and quality.
If none of these sizes are suitable for your space, supply your own dimensions for a specific custom-build.
Step 2: Find Your Perfect Fabric
Whether you love plush velvets, bold patterns, or traditional weaves, your fabric selection sets the tone for your entire piece.
Needle Rock Originals has access to an incredible array of designer fabrics, and Ali is here to help you navigate them all. You’re welcome to visit us in the workshop for a hands-on look at our extensive swatch library – but if you’re further afield, don’t worry! We offer Zoom consultations and will happily send samples straight to your door.
Ali will guide you through the options, get a feel for your tastes, and help you choose fabrics that work beautifully together. (Yes, we love to mix more than one fabric on a single piece – it’s part of what makes each ‘Aber Chaise’ truly one-of-a-kind.)
Step 3: Let the Crafting Begin
Once we’ve finalised your design, our skilled team sets to work.
The Frame – Crafted to your specifications from solid hardwood, built in-house or by our trusted craftsmen. This isn’t flatpack furniture – it’s a robust foundation designed to last more than 100 years.
The Springs & Stuffing – Every ‘Aber Chaise’ incorporates numerous coiled springs, hand-sewn and lashed together to create a coil spring matrix. An independent sprung edge is held in place with bamboo cane, with natural and sustainable ginger fibre and beautifully soft horsehair stuffings. Boundary layers offer additional comfort, whilst the traditional stuffings provide durability.
Your Fabric, Perfectly Applied – With your chosen fabric(s) in hand, we apply every layer with the utmost care and attention, making sure every line, pleat, and corner feels just right.
Matching Accessories – To complete the look, and as a special thank you for choosing Needle Rock Originals, we will gift a matching bolster cushion, and a small round cushion with every ‘Aber Chaise’. Other matching accessories, i.e. cushions, footstools, ottomans and headboards are available to order.

Step 4: White Glove Delivery
Once your ‘Aber Chaise’ is complete and proudly bearing the Needle Rock Originals mark, we arrange for it to be delivered straight to your home with our white glove delivery service.
That means:
- We handle your piece with care every step of the way,
- We place it exactly where you want it in your home,
- We remove all packaging and leave you with nothing but your beautiful new furniture.
A Piece That Lasts a Lifetime (and Beyond)
From first chat to final delivery, the ‘Aber Chaise’ is a joy to create – and even more of a joy to own. Built using time-honoured techniques and natural materials, each piece takes over 100 hours to craft and is designed to last over 100 years.
Whether you’re choosing it as a personal indulgence or planning to pass it down to future generations, your ‘Aber Chaise’ is more than just a piece of furniture – it’s a legacy.
